Board of Education Sends December Policies out for Public Input
Gabrielle Brown

Guilford County, N.C. – The Guilford County Board of Education’s Policy Committee voted to send the following policies out for a 30-day public input period ending on January 8, 2026.

A new Policy 2500 Hearings Before the Board is recommended by legal counsel to describe the Board's processes for hearings conducted when the Board acts in its quasi-judicial capacity considering appeals. This policy replaces Policy 7951: Board Hearings on Employment Actions.

Revisions to Policy 7940 Dismissal, Demotion or Suspension of Non-Contract Employees reflect current legal requirements and the recommendations of legal counsel regarding dismissals, demotions and suspensions for all employees.

If approved, revisions to Policy 7950 Retention and Nonrenewal reflect current legal requirements and the recommendations of legal counsel. The policy has also been revised to address all contract employees.

Policy 7951 Board Hearings on Employment Actions is recommended for repeal since its content has been incorporated into Policy 2500.

Additionally, the Board approved a new Policy 7430 Substitutes, which reflects the district’s current practices for employing substitutes.

The public can submit input on the proposed policy changes by emailing boardclerk@gcsnc.com. The Board will consider the policies at its January 2026 meeting.
